HARTFORD — A benefit is planned for Saturday, Sept. 30, at Grassy Fork Elementary School from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to help a 79-year-old Grassy Fork resident have a well dug so she may continue to live in her home.

Crystal Freeman explained that her parents, Bernice and Tommy Franklin, retired to Grassy Fork from New Jersey 26 years ago. They couldn’t afford to have a well dug, so with a verbal agreement and a handshake, the owner of the adjoining property allowed her father to create a spring box on his property so they could access water from a well that had water year round.
